God Made You Great: Stop Thinking Like a Victim

True Agape Christian Church | Athens, Georgia

One of the greatest battles many believers face is not a battle with the devil, finances, or circumstances. It is the battle of believing what God says about them.

In a recent message at True Agape Christian Church in Athens, Georgia, Bishop Craft challenged believers to stop seeing themselves as victims and start embracing their God-given identity. Too many Christians know what God has said, but they continue to speak and live according to their circumstances instead of His Word.

The Bible tells us that God spoke to Abraham and said, “I will bless thee, and make thy name great.” God’s plan was never for His people to live defeated, helpless, or ordinary lives. God made Abraham great, and through Christ, believers have become heirs of the same promise.

God Made You Great

Many people struggle with the idea of greatness because they think it sounds prideful. However, greatness was God’s idea, not man’s.

God told Abraham that He would make his name great. As believers, we are part of Abraham’s spiritual family. Therefore, we must stop rejecting what God has declared about us.

When we constantly speak defeat, failure, and limitation, we are disagreeing with God’s plan for our lives.

You Are a King and a Priest

The Scriptures teach that God has made us kings and priests unto Him.

Kings rule.
Kings reign.
Kings exercise authority.

A king does not live with a victim mentality. A king does not constantly complain, grumble, and speak defeat over his life.

As children of God, we must learn to speak according to God’s promises rather than our present circumstances.

Instead of saying:

  • “Nothing ever works out for me.”

  • “I can’t get ahead.”

  • “I’ll never overcome this.”

We should be declaring:

  • “God has made me great.”

  • “I can do all things through Christ.”

  • “God is working in my life.”

  • “I am who God says I am.”

Stop Living Like the Old Person

One of the strongest points from the message was the reminder that many believers continue to act like the person they were before Christ.

When challenges come, it is easy to return to old habits:

  • Complaining

  • Worrying

  • Fear

  • Doubt

  • Negative thinking

But Christ now lives in us.

Because Christ lives in us, we have access to His wisdom, His strength, His peace, and His power.

Our circumstances should not determine our identity. God’s Word should determine our identity.

The Power of God’s Word

The Bible repeatedly teaches that blessing comes not from merely hearing God’s Word but from doing it.

Many people know Scripture. Many people can quote Scripture.

However, true transformation happens when we put God’s Word into practice.

The Word of God has the power to:

  • Renew our minds

  • Change our thinking

  • Heal our lives

  • Increase our faith

  • Give us wisdom

  • Lead us into success

God’s Word is not just information. It is transformation.

Stay Filled With the Holy Spirit

Bishop Craft also emphasized the importance of maintaining a close relationship with God.

The power God gives us must be cultivated through:

  • Prayer

  • Worship

  • Bible study

  • Fellowship with God

When believers neglect these things, they lose their spiritual fire and begin to drift.

But when we consistently spend time with God, we stay strong, encouraged, and prepared for whatever challenges come our way.

Final Thoughts

God never called His children to live defeated lives.

He called us to walk in faith.
He called us to walk in authority.
He called us to walk in victory.

The question is not whether God has made you great.

The question is whether you believe it.

Stop talking like a victim.
Stop seeing yourself as ordinary.
Start agreeing with what God has already said about you.

You are blessed.
You are called.
You are empowered.

And through Jesus Christ, you have been made to reign in life.
