Use the Right Language: How Your Words Shape Your World

This message was preached at True Agape Christian Church in Athens, Georgia, where we are committed to teaching God’s Word in a practical and life-changing way.

Our words are not neutral. According to Scripture, what we say has the power to shape our direction, our peace, and our future. In this message, Bishop Clifford Craft teaches that we must become intentional about our language because our words either release life or invite death into our situations.

Use the right language

Your Words Determine Your Direction

Jesus makes it clear in Matthew 12:37:

“For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

This means our words don’t just describe our lives — they direct our lives. Bishop Craft explains that when we take control of our words, we take control of our lives. God calls us to “rule our world,” meaning our personal space — our home, job, family, and environment — not by force, but by faith-filled words and prayer.

Use the right language

If we consistently speak defeat, fear, and lack, we will live under those conditions. But when we speak God’s truth, we give Him room to move in our situation.

Hearing the Word Is Not Enough

One of the strongest warnings in this teaching is about self-deception. Many believers hear the Word but do not apply it. Bishop Craft reminds us that God expects us to be doers of the Word, not just hearers. Hearing truth without obeying truth leads to deception — we think we are growing, but our lives stay the same.

Use the right language

Salvation gives us a fresh start, but transformation happens when we practice what God says. When the Word reveals something about our language, habits, or mindset, we are responsible to change.

Death and Life Are in the Power of the Tongue

Proverbs 18:21 tells us plainly:

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

Bishop Craft emphasizes that your mouth can either keep you stuck or move you forward. Many people speak their problems out loud all day — “I don’t make enough,” “Nothing ever changes,” “This is just how my life is.” But those words don’t just express frustration — they reinforce limitation.

Use the right language

Faith language, on the other hand, releases movement. Speaking God’s Word creates agreement with heaven instead of agreement with fear.

Use Your Mouth With Your Hands

Hard work alone is not enough. Bishop Craft teaches that God wants us to use our mouth with our hands. While effort matters, Scripture repeatedly shows that what we speak affects our results — our income, our opportunities, and our direction.

Use the right language

When we combine faith-filled words with faithful action, we align ourselves with God’s design. Our mouth becomes a tool that shapes the fruit of our labor.

Real-Life Proof: God Responds to Faith Language

Throughout the message, Bishop Craft shares testimonies of how God opened doors, restored jobs, provided financially, and brought healing when people trusted God and spoke in faith instead of fear. These moments weren’t accidental — they were the result of obedience, prayer, and right language.

Use the right language

God is real. He is active. And He responds to people who take Him at His Word.

Practical Ways to Change Your Language

Here are a few simple shifts you can start making today:

  •  “I can’t” → “God will help me.”

  • “Nothing ever changes” →  “God is working this out.”

  •  “This is just my life” → “My life is changing by God’s Word.”

Speak life over your:

  • Home

  • Marriage

  • Children

  • Finances

  • Health

  • Future

Your words create the atmosphere you live in.

Final Encouragement

Your mouth is powerful. It can trap you in yesterday — or lead you into God’s promises. When you choose the right language, you choose the right direction. Start speaking what God says about your life, and watch how your world begins to change.
