Pt. 1 Sermon

Pt. 2 Sermon

Detailed Sermon Notes: Not One Feeble Among Them

1. God’s Deliverance of Israel

  • When God sent Moses to bring Israel out of bondage, none were sick or feeble among them.
  • Regardless of whether the number was 3 million or 6 million, Scripture emphasizes that not one had disease or weakness.
  • God not only delivered them from slavery but also brought them out prosperous.
  • They didn’t rely on their own stored wealth—God Himself enriched and sustained them.

2. God’s Provision and Distinction

  • Ecclesiastes 11: The cloud becomes full and pours out—likened to God’s blessing pouring back on His people.
  • God never forgets His people; His word is meant to feed the heart, not to “step on toes.”
  • Believers must change their mindset: instead of murmuring or questioning, receive the Word as truth.

3. The Cross – God’s Power

  • 1 Corinthians 1:18 – “The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us being saved it is the power of God.”
  • The gospel separates people: those who receive it experience its power; those who reject it see it as foolish.
  • Human wisdom cannot compare to God’s wisdom. Christ is both the power and wisdom of God.

4. Jehovah Rapha Revealed

  • Exodus 15:25–27 – At Marah, bitter waters became sweet when Moses cast a tree into them.
  • This revealed God as Jehovah Rapha – The Lord Who Heals.
  • Bitter = polluted, foul, undrinkable. Yet God transformed it instantly, showing He can do anything, any way He chooses.
  • God established Himself as their covenant healer, promising: “I will put none of the diseases on you which I brought on the Egyptians.”

5. Warning Against Complaining

  • Despite miracles (crossing the Red Sea), Israel quickly murmured and complained.
  • Complaining is consistently shown in Scripture as displeasing to God.
  • Instead of complaining, they should have worshiped and praised.
  • Principle: Complaining weakens faith; worship strengthens trust in God.

6. God’s Covenant Promises of Healing

  • Exodus 23:25 – “Serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and water. I will take sickness away from you.”
  • Psalm 103:1–5 – Benefits of God: forgiveness, healing, redemption, lovingkindness, renewal.
  • God promised His people immunity from sickness and disease under the old covenant.

7. Foreshadowing of the Cross

  • Numbers 21:5–9 – Israel complained about manna; fiery serpents bit them.
  • God instructed Moses to lift a bronze serpent on a pole; whoever looked lived.
  • Bronze represented judgment. Looking up brought healing.
  • John 3:14–15 – Jesus connected this to His own crucifixion: “As Moses lifted up the serpent, so must the Son of Man be lifted up.”
  • Looking to Jesus on the cross brings eternal life and wholeness.

8. The Cross Secures Healing

  • Jesus’ crucifixion was greater than the bronze serpent.
  • The cross is the source of complete healing and salvation.
  • Believers must continually look to Jesus, not prescriptions, doctors, or circumstances.
  • Hebrews 12:2 – “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.”

9. Jesus’ Victory Over Sin and Death

  • 2 Corinthians 5:21 – Jesus became sin for us.
  • He was judged by Herod, Caiaphas, Pilate, and ultimately crucified.
  • After His death, He descended into the lower parts of the earth (Ephesians 4:9).
  • Acts 2:24 – Death could not hold Him; God raised Him up.
  • 1 Peter 3:19 – He proclaimed victory to the spirits in prison.
  • Jesus conquered hell, death, and the grave, securing our total salvation and healing.

10. Application for Believers

  • God makes a distinction between His people and the world—sickness and disease need not rule over believers.
  • The old covenant guaranteed healing, but the new covenant in Christ offers even greater promises.
  • Healing is the believer’s right through the finished work of the cross.
  • Response required: faith, trust, worship—not complaint.

Key Takeaway:
God revealed Himself as Jehovah Rapha—the Lord who heals. From Israel’s deliverance to the cross of Christ, His covenant has always been to keep His people whole. Complaining blocks faith, but looking to the cross releases power, wisdom, and healing.
